GS1 UAE takes part in Global GS1 Healthcare Conference in Bangkok
The 34th Global GS1 Healthcare Conference took place in Bangkok, Thailand this year from the 30th of October to 1st November 2018. GS1 UAE was among the 250 delegates present at the conference, including over 220 healthcare professionals from 33 countries.
This year’s conference tackled the challenges faced regarding patient safety. A few of the biggest issues that fall under patient safety include falsified medicines, medical errors, and counterfeiting. The healthcare leaders present at the conference shared their experiences with the implementations of GS1 standards in healthcare and discussed the latest regulatory requirements and what these translate into for all stakeholders.
Some of the topics deliberated over the three-day conference were pharmaceutical traceability from manufacturer to patient, the future of healthcare with regards to improving patient care and hospital transformation using GS1 standards, and unique device identification.
The next Global GS1 Healthcare Conference is to be held in Noordwijk-Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from the 26th to the 28th of March in 2019.
