GS1 UAE was honored to participate in the UAE Ministry of Economy’s official economic delegation to Switzerland, led by His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism. The high-level delegation included prominent national companies operating in the food and agriculture sectors, united in their mission to explore global innovations and partnerships that can shape a more resilient and sustainable food future for the UAE.

The visit focused on advancing strategic priorities such as food innovation, economic cluster development, research and development, and the adoption of sustainable solutions across the sector. It also served as a platform to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Switzerland—a country recognized globally for its leadership in food systems and innovation.

A key highlight of the visit was the delegation’s participation in the event titled “Empowering Innovation in the Food Sector and Building Food Clusters for a Sustainable Economic Future,” held at Bühler Group’s headquarters in Uzwil. The event gathered leading representatives from the Swiss private sector, industry experts, and key decision-makers to discuss the future of food systems.

GS1 UAE actively engaged with global stakeholders during the event, presenting how GS1 global standards are enabling smarter trade, supply chain transparency, digital innovation, and sustainable growth within the food industry. These standards play a critical role in enhancing traceability and interoperability across supply chains, supporting the UAE’s shift towards a future-ready, innovation-led economy.

Our participation reaffirms GS1 UAE’s commitment to aligning with the UAE’s national agenda, fostering cross-border collaboration, and driving innovation that supports long-term food security and economic sustainability.
